Packaging Innovation #1 - Packaging Allowing Fermentation
ProAmpac has designed a special stand up pouch with degassing ability for its client Farmhouse Culture Inc. The pouch is suitable for the probiotic food and beverage packaging, which requires the microorganisms to stay alive till the product is consumed.
The degassing valves are made from PE (Polyethylene) materials with a precise opening for restricting the amount of air exposure.

Packaging Innovation #2 - Innovative Corrugated Packaging
Feldmuehle Uetersen GmbH has introduced VivaCard and VivaLiner for producing premium corrugated boxes. VivaCard is an SBS board with a matte finish for folding cartons. SBS stands for Solid Bleached Sulphate, which is a virgin fiber grade of paperboard.
VivaLiner is a graphical Kraft Liner for laminating corrugated boards and open flutes. The combination of VivaCard and VivaLiner brings excellent image and graphics reproduction on the corrugated surface.

Packaging Innovation #3 - Keeping Food Fresh After Two Years
Milacron, a global packaging manufacturer has developed canned packaging for the perishable food items. Named Klear Can, the packaging uses BPA free polypropylene and EVOH plastic material.
EVOH (Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol) helps to provide barrier against moisture. Klear can provides three layer EVOH barrier which can keep the food fresh for more than two years.Apart from the material, what makes Klear Can stand out from other canned packaging is its compatibility with the existing canning inventory. Also, it has transparent lid/body to show the content inside.

Packaging Innovation #4 - Packaging With Glass Features, But Not Glass
Greiner Packaging International GmbH has designed a light, shatterproof, and transparent packaging for Devely, a German food company. The packaging uses Multi Barrier Technology (MBT) to provide a high-level oxygen barrier.
One of the layer to give oxygen barrier is EVOH (Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol) layer. It also allows hot filling. At present, the packaging is used for Premium Ketchup brand of Develey but is suitable for many more products.

Packaging Innovation #5 - Using Cornstarch to Make Plastic Packaging
Plantic Technology Ltd has devised a technology for making an eco-friendly plastic packaging.
The primary feedstock for this type of plastic is the naturally present amylose starch in corn. The packaging is recyclable, sustainable, and provides high moisture barrier properties.
